Avatar (2009) is a science fiction film directed by James Cameron. The story is set in the mid-22nd century on Pandora, a lush alien moon rich in a valuable mineral called unobtanium. The film follows Jake Sully, a former Marine who is paralyzed from the waist down. He is sent to Pandora to take part in the Avatar Program, where humans remotely control genetically engineered Na’vi bodies (called avatars) to interact with the native inhabitants. As Jake explores Pandora in his avatar form, he meets Neytiri, a Na’vi princess who teaches him their ways, culture, and deep spiritual connection to nature. Over time, Jake begins to sympathize with the Na’vi and falls in love with Neytiri. Meanwhile, the human corporation—backed by military force—plans to destroy the Na’vi’s sacred land to extract unobtanium. Jake is torn between following his orders and protecting the Na’vi people. In the end, he chooses to fight alongside them in a massive battle to defend Pandora.
